THE BLAME GAME
So go ahead and just blame me
For not having the rose-colored glasses to see
You were doing your best not the best you could do
If it’s good enough for you then it should be good enough for me too
So go ahead and blame me
I am the reason your life is aggrieved
It’s too bad that its yourself that you can’t see
So go ahead blame me
If only I could have waited or held on for the final change
We would be a happy family and not dysfunctionally deranged
But oh no I had to put a thorn in the roses
Because I said enough is enough no more poses
You need a reason to explain
How someone like me could leave an awesome man who’s you
I was shallow, I couldn’t understand
That the sacrifice for family time was part of the greater plan
Success, that’s what you were aiming for
But instead I choose to throw in the towel and walk out the door
Once again I am to blame
For all the misery of this divorce and all your pain
I know, it’s all my fault because I chose not to see
The necessity of making sacrifices for business opportunities
It excuses the disconnect of the water or the lights
There really was no reason for me to take flight
So you are right, I am to blame
For not backing you up when business waned and waned and waned
To err is human and the third time’s the charm
Is that the point where our love suffered harm
Every chance you get you stick me with barbs
Trying to make small souls think I’m the fraud
So once again I will take the blame
But I won’t stand down or hold my head in shame
Do you feel better now, think you’re the saint
Because I took the blame for all the marriage strain
Do you feel good knowing there is nothing you did
To make me walk away without consulting the kids
So really it’s okay, place the blame on me
I will keep my eyes wide shut because you will see
The finger you’re constantly point at me
Has three pointing directly back at you
